Whereas the concept of the Tipping Point has entered the zeitgeist, what's less-well understood is that the buildup to the critical mass required for social change may not seem incremental, and indeed stalled, in the moment, when seemingly, all of a sudden, we go from fringe support for a movement to the opening of the floodgates. But this is a measurement problem, and not reflective of what's actually going on. The bankruptcy of the old order only appears to happen gradually, then all at once! The Sun Also Rises...
