So ironic that the early Catholic Church's breakdown of traditional family/clan bonds, in order to assert its own authority, eventually led to Western individualism and secularism! And even in contemporary 'Catholic cultures' where the Church lingers because it was adopted later, this sort of fringe fetishism is not the norm... It persists because it's extremely well-organized and funded (see: the Catholic SCOTUS)...
