Podcast for Inquiry S3E11: The Founding Myth with Andrew Seidel

Andrew Seidel (@AndrewLSeidel) is the author of The Founding Myth: Why Christian Nationalism is un-American, and works for Americans United for Separation of Church and State. He and Leslie discuss the birth of the United States and its founding documents. Andrew reveals that America was not intended to be in any way a Christian nation, yet a significant minority has come to believe that is not the case. Andrew also talks about the very real threat that today’s Christian Nationalists pose to American democracy.

Religion has always been a handmaiden of patriarchal hierarchy, necessary to keep everyone in line by justifying nonsense as divine edict:

The rich man in his castle
The poor man at his gate
God made them high and lowly
    And ordered their estate

So no wonder it's having a hissy fit as backlash to progress and equality! There is no 'live and let live' middle ground, as the two systems of social organization undermine each other...

As for Canada's Constitution, the preamble is just embarrassing. Even though it's meaningless, the churchies insist it proves that Canada is a Christian country!
