Those who oppose UBI should consider that they're already paying a lot of money for social support systems/programs that are wasteful and don't work very well. Why not use that money better? And they will be the first ones howling for the government to force the automation/AI winners to spread the wealth when they themselves become completely unemployable, despite their best efforts and the fact that they're highly educated!
ReplyDeleteFortunately, the Canadian government is quietly and incrementally rolling out and scaling UBI by introducing and streamlining the CWB (Canada Worker Benefit) while concomitantly automating tax filing for the vulnerable. Kudos! If some people are better off receiving a poverty-line income than working the shitty jobs that are the only work for which they will ever qualify, it's money well spent!
